Coffee Brewing Tips

Follow these great coffee brewing tips for the most enjoyable cup of coffee you'll ever experience:

  1. Maintain the Freshness of coffee beans by grinding beans only as needed. Whole bean coffee stays fresher and maintains its aroma and flavor far longer than ground coffee.

  2. Buy enough coffee beans to last a week - two at the most. For optimal flavor, beans should be stored in an airtight, dark container and used within three weeks of the roast date.

  3. Never freeze or refrigerate coffee beans as damage from moisture, condensation and/or evaporation has the potential to harm the beans and affect the taste of the coffee.

A pot of coffee will differ from house to house, and from person to person. Personal taste will dictate how you brew your coffee, but here are a few guidelines. These suggestions are for an average "12" cup coffee maker, and the grinding time for each desired brew is approximately 12 seconds.

For a bold brew, use approximately 10 tablespoons of whole beans.

For a medium brew, use approximately 8 tablespoons of whole beans.

For a lighter brew, use approximately 6 tablespoons of whole beans.

Don't be afraid to experiment, as you will eventually find the perfect combination to suit your personal taste.

Prior to serving freshly brewed coffee, swirl the coffee in the decanter to give it a good, even mix.

Preheat coffee mugs and thermoses with hot water. Storing coffee in a thermos rather than leaving it on the burner will keep the coffee tasting fresh and keep it from becoming bitter.

Our beans are not packaged for sale for 12 hours after roasting as we allow for the degassing process. We allow as much time to pass as we can so that our fresh roasted coffee is on its way to your door as soon as is plausible. However, fresh roasted coffee emits 100's of vapors, therefore, we allow our coffee to stabilize for 12 hours prior to packaging.

ENJOY YOUR COFFEE EXPERIENCE!!
